Both: What do you think of this BBC report exposing concerns about Britain's Tavistock Centre?

It pretty much goes over what people having been saying for years. Concerns about immediate referrals for treatment, the medical effects of puberty blockers, the fact that some of these patients have homophobic parents who prefer to have a trans child, and that many of these children are autistic, have experienced trauma, and were previously identifying themselves as gay.

The young person had very clearly told me and my colleague that, "my mum wants the hormone more than I do" and when we took it to senior management - Polly Carmichael - she suggested that we refer, even though this was not clinically indicated.

There are rumors floating around that a huge scandal is about to break, and the BBC's website has removed a bunch of links to organizations supportive of pediatric transition.

What are your thoughts?

Thank you for sharing. I do know that there is a lawsuit coming the way of Tavistock. A young woman who was medically altered at 15 after 3 appointments is suing Tavistock along with the mother of an autistic girl who was harmed by the clinic and a former nurse.

It was originally supposed to take place this summer but has been postponed to October to COVID

Thanks for the links. I was vaguely aware of that case, but I didn't know an actual lawsuit was going through. I wonder if that's all, or if something else is in the works.

The BBC used to have The LGBT Foundation, Mermaids, The Gender Trust, and The Gender Identity Research and Education Society on their "information and support" page, but quietly removed them a few weeks ago. I'm assuming this is in anticipation of some yet unknown news story.

Here in the USA, things are getting even scarier and younger. Johanna Olson-Kennedy gives testosterone to 12 year olds and approves 13 year olds for mastectomies. There appears to be no national oversight whatsoever. I recently found out that she has also put at least one 8 year old on testosterone.

We all know none of this should be practiced on children. It's child abuse, plain and simple. AGP's have projected their fantasies and yearning onto children and have done so much damage.

It's weird how things have changed so dramatically in such a short period of time. 10 years ago, there was debate and controversy over these issues. There were assurances at first that no one under 18 would get medical treatment, then later assurances that no one under 18 would get surgery. Both claims have been proven false many times over, but either activists still insist they don't happen or that they are necessary to stop children from killing themselves.

Now one cannot even say that they're against toddlers and preschoolers being transitioned without being accused of transphobia.

It's possible they've had some effect, but I wouldn't say they're the main culprit. The strongest, most outspoken, most powerful people in the world of child transition are non-trans women.

I think there are useful neoliberal idiots who push children into this but I still believe the main impetus is rich white male AGP's.

For child transition? I don't know. I just don't see it. I see a lot of mothers pushing their children and a lot of female doctors and psychologists jumping on this train with not only enthusiasm, but the fervor of zealous converts. If extremely rich trans people are behind anything, it's hard to tell.

Well, they are the ones that fund it with big biotech dollars and political power. Yes, there are plenty of useful idiot mothers out there looking for a buck and some attention on their kid but the big money and political power is from the men.
