No, because people get into transitory periods of depression and having everyone off themselves over a temporary problem would be ridiculous.

I hope you're not considering suicide, Detty. At least wait until you're 19 so we have a full year to sexually harass you.

How pathetic that you return 17 hours later to include this note. I made the comments in relation to your sexual objectification of a kid who wants to kill herself (asking her not to do that so that you can continue sexually objectifying her; gosh, so much to live for; you lecherous, abusive, sociopath scumbag) and then returned an hour later to see that there were 3 others who seemed to agree with me. You mad at those 3 users? Mel was one of them. I can vote only once. Get back to your child porn business, or whatever it is that encourages you to try to groom kids on Saidit for your pedophile fantasies.

Any anonymous person who shows the kinds of problems you do obviously needs help. Hence: (1) one offers a supportive response, or (2) any other response is almost sociopathological. Anything this kind of person does has lifetime benefits, or alternatively, disasterous consequences.

[–]detty[S] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

And what kinds of problems do I show, exactly? I only asked a question.

An important example (of several): dropping out of school.

I don't know whether you are not actually a bot, but if you are not, getting a useful education is very valuable. I worked with someone from your country, but he was the best your country had to offer (so, if you don't consider yourself to be the smartest person in a peer group of let's say a few thousand people, don't count on you being comparable).

It is possible to make probably more money than you can even dream of, but you would probably have to leave the country for a decent education.

There are international lists of universities and you could just contact a lot of them and ask hem whether they have any Colombian students and how they got there.

These days, you could perhaps even just ask ChatGPT.

A right to die of natural causes? Yes.

A right to end one's life regardless of physical health. NO There are numerous problems with suicide, for the individual and many others around that individual. Attempted and assisted suicide are also crimes in many countries. Suicide can also result in the criminal conviction of someone accused of causing the suicide. Anyone asking this question should ask family and/or friends and/or associates about this, in the first instance. It's also important to call a professional, and ask them. No matter how alone a person may feel, there are always other people who want to help and can normally change the depressed person's mind. Be aware that Saidit is a very strange place where you cannot get good advice for this kind of issue. None of us have any professional experience with psychiatry or psychology. There are Saiditors who might give you the worst advice possible. Two Saiditors helped enable - I suspect unwittingly - three ex-girlfriends overdose to death, and one ex-girlfriend to continue alcoholism, drinking and driving, potentially killing others on the road, rather than honestly helping those "girlfriends" get the help they needed. Saiditors have tragic stories to tell. Hence, I hope you'll ask relatives, friends, associates, and professionals about this. If one were 98 years old and dying of terminal cancer, with only a week to live, and unable to do much of anything while in a hospital bed, then the right to suicide could be considered. Anyone younger than that has so much more to live for. Life is about breakthroughs. Each breakthrough is often life-affirming.

I suspect these comments seem strange on a crazy website like Saidit, but I don't care.

Please reach out to people you know and professionals with this kind of question.

Don't worry, I am 99.9% certain this was an idle question by a dumbass teenager who had no idea it would make anyone concerned. This was a very compassionate comment though.

Obviously not

That's what heroin is for. Person dying and in incredible pain, give them a dose of that shit and let them ride it out without feeling it. Yeah they'll be addicted for life but that isn't very long so it isn't a big deal.

[–][deleted] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Yes. This doesn't mean I inherently approve of suicide, and I myself am familiar with temporary psychosis which can lead down a dark path, and have a good understanding of how these things pass. I also know people who have sadly tried or succeeded in suicide. But it isn't the case for all people to have temporary psychosis, life can be suffering. People should have freedom of their own autonomy.

Everyone already has the right to die. If you wanna die, unless you're a quadriplegic, you can check out any time you please. Hence the meme of the hospital bound guy with locked in syndrome blinking kill me now in Morse code....

Most people that openly profess to wanting to kill themselves are just wanting attention.....

[–]jet199 1 insightful - 3 fun1 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 3 fun -  (3 children)

Are you seriously saying that everyone holocausted actually committed suicide?

That's pretty nazi-ish.

[–]freddit 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

You write: "If they are mad, remove them from the gene pool."

Look it up.

People with mental difficulties were sent to concentration camps and often died there. Whether it's planned by the state or by the individual, the interest in letting people with mental difficulties commit suicide is obviously cruel, on several levels. Indeed the pool of people with mental difficulties includes sociopaths who want to genocide people with mental difficulties.

[–]jet199 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

I think you'll find people with mental illnesses were not sent to concentration camps, they were killed by doctors in hospitals.

They were purposely exterminated, the 1st group to be so and all the other killings followed that. The methods used to kill such as gassings were used on the mad and disabled first then expanded to other groups.

Still nothing to do with suicide.

Look it up.

[–]freddit 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Again, look at what you wrote: "If they are sane they can't" [have the right to commit suicide]. "If they are mad, remove them from the gene pool."[via suicide?] This OBVIOUSLY has the broader meaning that 'mad' people can and should be 'removed from the gene pool'. Anyone reading your comment understands that you think people who are 'mad' are not valued enough to be prohibited from killing themselves.

Hence my responses.

You've found the Aktion T-4 euthenasia program, but you conflate this with my comment about concentration camps, which included the Aktion 14f13 extermination program. Look again and you'll see that what we call 'concentration camp' is broadly recognized as detention and extermination camps that were related to Aktion T-4 and 14f13 extermination programs (1934-1945). Mental illness victims sent to BOTH of these camps were often listed as 'disabled'. "Historians estimate the total number of deaths to be 11m, with the victims including gay people, priests, Romani people, people with mental or physical disabilities, communists, trade unionists, Jehovah’s Witnesses, anarchists, Poles and other Slavic peoples, Black people and resistance fighters. Half of the victims who weren’t Jewish were Polish." Other victims were dwarves and African-German children.

Between 1939 and 1945 an estimated number of 300.000 mentally ill and handicapped people were murdered in the German dominion under the pretext of “euthanasia”. “Aktion T4” and “Aktion 14f13” are the best known aspects of this politics. The article describes the history of the idea of “life unworthy of life”, its radical and cruel realization in the German Reich and its occupied territories in the era of National Socialism; it differentiates between the various forms of action taken in the context of the “euthanasia” program, describes the perpetrators and their motives and attempts to commemorate the murdered individuals. https://www.sciencespo.fr/mass-violence-war-massacre-resistance/en/document/extermination-mentally-ill-and-handicapped-people-under-national-socialist-rule.html

[–]fruitcake 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

99.9% of psychiatric evaluations show that suicide is not an appropriate option. In the .01% of cases, the person is terminally ill and almost in a coma, with only a few days to live, and might therefore have the option for assisted suicide.

[–]BobOki 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

That is unfortunate. I would have thought if you are sane then you should be given a green light to do what you want, figured if you were NOT sane, then you should not be able to off yourself because of said insanity. Anyways that is how I see it... not how it is now, but what I said.

What do you mean by 'right to die'? What entity would impart such a right unto people and what benefit do they derive from people having casual access to his right?

      [–]detty[S] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

What do you mean by 'right to die'

The right to take your own life without expecting intervention from anyone, and being institutionalized in case of a failed attempt or solely for expressing the desire to die

What entity would impart such a right unto people and what benefit do they derive from people having casual access to his right?

Then you should reflect on the questions you didn't think to ask and consider their broader implications. There has to be a defined benefit for the individual who wished to end their life as well as a benefit to any entity that has the physical means to prevent this or punish others for enabling such acts. There also needs to be a consideration for the fact that there will be people who game such rules to murder people who otherwise didn't want to die for reasons of their own benefit.

We are given the responsability to die at birth, as all living beings. It is not a right because it is already given to us by God, and no other being in the world can regulate or pick and choose its happening; thus it will never be a "right", for that pressuposes regulation.
