A lighter should do fine. Or any lye is fine in dissolving fats, if I remember correctly.

Vaseline is a petroleum based oil. Oils are easily dissolved with solvents. Try lighter fluid or rubbing alcohol.

Warning: Wash thoroughly by hand with water and soap after wards, many times, before laundering. Solvents tend to catch fire in the dryer.
