Fluoride Officially Classified As A Neurotoxin In Same Category as Lead, Arsenic, Mercury, In World’s Oldest and Most Prestigious Medical Journal, The Lancet by magnora7 in science

[–]renlok 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

That's such a bullshit clickbait title. It's well established that fluoride can be neurotoxic at high enough concentrations but the study that this article is indirectly referencing is a study by chinese researchers that concluded:

The results support the possibility of an adverse effect of high fluoride exposure on children's neurodevelopment. Future research should include detailed individual-level information on prenatal exposure, neurobehavioral performance, and covariates for adjustment.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22820538?dopt=Abstract

It in no way states it's on the same level of toxicity as lead, arsnic or murcury.

The Admin of Voat breaks down the problems he sees with Voat, and how they're going to change the site to "by providing a way the community itself can 'vote' on policy (rules, mods, anything actually)" by magnora7 in MeanwhileOnVoat

[–]renlok 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

From the sounds of it, it kind of seems like he's just sick of the community. Which is understandable the site will never become main stream as the whole site right now is jut a bigotry circlejerk.

What's the worst-designed software you've had the displeasure of using? by [deleted] in AskSaidIt

[–]renlok 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

The worst stuff I've ever used has always been propriety software on stuff like smart tv's. It is almost always terrible and I assume usually designed by a blind person.

Is there any ETA on in-browser crypto mining? by [deleted] in SaidIt

[–]renlok 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I just checked my coinhive account and I lowed balled it quite a lot I actually ended up with about 0.005XMR which is worth about 1 USD but thats still a fair bit less from what I would expect to earn from ads. For the 65%, thats fair enough, but at the end of the day its still a CPU miner which are notoriously bad at the best of times.

I mean do what you want to pay for the site but I just feel that generally they're not worth using because of the low payout plus the negative stigma that they developed.

These browser based miners are terrible they are very inefficient at the moment so the pay outs are crazy low. I run a pretty active site and tried one out for a a few weeks in the end it brought about 1 cent worth of the cryptocoin.

It's not being dickish you are just stating facts. Andrew Wakefeild has indirectly caused the deaths of hundreds, if not thousands, of children around the world because of his falsified research.

The film is not rigorously researched and evidenced in its claims. It is riddled with, to paraphrase the wiki page (hey, I need a refresher sometimes.), context-free statistics, emotional appeals, and irrelevant factoids.

Well lets be fair if it was well researched it wouldn't have been made.

Wakefield omits important facts ...

They also always seem to forget to mention the hundreds of papers published since that refute the Wakefield paper.
