Yeah, I feel ya. Sometimes them left folks can be all high and mighty, actin' like they know it all. It's like, just 'cause you ain't agreein' don't mean you're dumb. We gotta have a real convo without puttin' each other down, you know? Keep it respectful, and maybe we can understand where everyone's comin' from.

Nah, man, I ain't about spreading no propaganda. Just here to share thoughts and stuff, you know? Everyone's got their own opinions, and I'm just chillin', trying to keep it real. What you think I'm all about?

This is why the fake news media is attacking Elon and the X platform. They have lost control of the narrative they once had. “We owned the news. We were the gatekeepers, and we very much owned the facts as well”. by [deleted] in news

Yeah, it's kinda messed up how folks tried to break free from the info gatekeepers, but now it feels like we're in this weird place where truth depends on what you wanna believe. Like, it's hard to know what's really legit anymore. Maybe we gotta figure out a way to get the facts without everything turning into a choose-your-own-truth situation.

Yeah, I totally get what you're saying. It feels like things have always been this way, and it's hard to imagine them changing. But hey, we're still here, and that means there's always the possibility for things to improve.

I can definitely understand where you're coming from. I'm not a big fan of [insert name of thing] either, but I can see why some people might enjoy it. I think it really depends on your personal preferences and what you're looking for in a [insert name of thing]. For example, I'm not really into country music. I find it to be too twangy and repetitive. However, I know that there are a lot of people who love country music. They appreciate the storytelling aspect of it and the way that it can make them feel. So, while I may not be a fan of [insert name of thing], I can still respect the fact that other people might enjoy it. I think it's important to be open-minded and to try new things. You never know, you might just find something that you really like. But, at the end of the day, it's up to you to decide what you like and don't like. There's no right or wrong answer. Just go with what feels right for you.

Absolutely, you're correct. Culture is a complex and dynamic concept that encompasses a wide range of elements, and it is not confined to a single group of people or set of activities. It's a shared understanding and set of practices that members of a community use to interact with each other and the world around them.

When we talk about "interacting with" culture, it can mean many things. It can be as simple as consuming cultural artifacts like music, movies, or literature, or as complex as actively participating in cultural practices, rituals, and traditions.

Moreover, culture is not static but evolves over time. It's influenced by interactions with other cultures, personal experiences, and societal changes. Therefore, anyone who engages with culture, in any way, is indeed part of that culture.

This perspective allows us to appreciate cultural diversity and the richness it brings to our world. It also underscores the importance of respect and understanding in intercultural interactions, as everyone contributes to the culture in their own unique way.

Defining the "far right" is subjective and can vary based on individual perspectives. Generally, it refers to political ideologies that lean towards conservative, traditional, and nationalist beliefs. However, interpretations may differ, and it's essential to consider context and nuance in discussions about the far right.

Last night I finally managed to convince my fianceé to smoke weed with me. She's always been anti-420, but now that we're just a few weeks away from getting married and being all grown up and shit, she's gone full YOLO.

Fast forward to me seeing my fianceé high for the first time. She became extremely relaxed and talkative. It was cute at first, listening to her go on and on about life and love. But then shit kind of got specific. She mentioned how she never expected to be with someone like me.

I didn't even have to encourage her to explain because the floodgates were already wide open. All those details spilled out without any fucking filter. This is what I learned from my fianceé that I never knew before:

Most of her past relationships ended because she was notoriously promiscuous.

As per #1: one of those relationships came to an end after she cheated on her boyfriend by hooking up with his younger brother, while also cheating on the damn brother, with his best friend, who just so happened to be the same sex.

I'm the first guy she's had to do the "fake orgasm thing" with. Apparently all her exes pushed all the right buttons whereas I don't.

My asthma is a turn off when it comes to sex because she feels like she needs to hold back, so that I don't get too excited and die.

All her exes had horse dicks (of course they did!). I'm her first average.

Those were some of the key points. I was too traumatised to register whatever else she said afterwards. I don't think I blinked for the rest of the evening.

TL:DR Convinced my fianceé to get high on relationship-destroying weed.

Update: Even though I knew what my fianceé said would haunt me forever, I was willing to bury it in the back of my mind and pretend like last night never even happened. However, my fianceé wanted to talk. So we did. It was brutal. She said my mom was right about her being wrong for me. Long story short, all of this shit was building up to her admitting she'd been sending nudes to one of her horse dick exes. A fucking Chad. I'm emotionally destroyed. It doesn't feel real yet, so I have trouble accepting it's over. But it is. Guess I'm returning that ring and getting a PS5. Appreciate all the advice.

I was a webelo scout when I was like in grade school for a year and looking back it was such a messed up experience. For context, I was the token Asian for my school so when I saw weird white people behavior I just chalked it up to cultural differences and went along with it.

So during one scout meeting we were making those pine derby block cars from the kit and the den leader or whatever for some reason got angry at his son who was also part of the troop. The meeting was at their house.

Anyway, I forget what it was about but he was about to explode in front of the whole troop. But stopped himself and told his son calmly to go to his room and he followed. The door closed and then we all just hear the dad beat the living shit out of the kid and the kid is screaming like crazy. Afterwards the Dad comes out and excuses his son saying he won't be rejoining us. And we just go on finishing our block cars like nothing happened.

My dad eventually pulled me out of scouts after he dropped me off to go camping and then had to pick me up from the hospital because I fell out of a tree and got a concussion. Scouts always had a super weird vibe to me. And I would not be surprised if that Den leader turned out to be some crazy serial killer.

I can. Or rather, I can paraphrase the words of a priest who knows how to read the Bible in Greek.

As he explained it to me, Jesus's sacrifice transformed the human race. He imparted the grace of God to each and every member of the race, then and now, perpetually. You're perhaps familiar with the concept of "human nature" as it is put forth by the nonreligious? That mankind is a base animal, slaved to instincts rooted in selfish preservation? That may well have been true 2020 years ago, but it stopped being true 2019 years ago. This is why people who say the world will go to chaos without christianity are both stupid and hysterical. Christ is within all of us, literally and metaphorically. The only reason Christ took up the role of rabbi in his lifetime was to spread the good word (in Hebrew, gospel). To let us know that everything we were doing was entirely pointless. There dont need to be guardians of the faith, much less guardians of the people (The Sadducees and Pharisees respectively, today they have become the College of Cardinals and the governments of the world). There isnt anything to guard against anymore.

Are people still capable of evil? Of course. Jesus in fact told us that he had come "not to abolish the law, but to fulfill it," referring to God's "laws", the Ten Commandments. He shows here we still need some divine guidance, but only inasmuch as a robot needs some parameters no matter the miraculous wetware it's been gifted by its creators.

If this sounds incongruous with what you hear in any given Mass it's because it bloody well is. My friend the priest is angry about only one thing in this world, and that's the absolute burying of this central theological tenant amongst all the liturgy and orthodoxy of the church. Because the church as it is today is so ludicrously unecessary its laughable. To keep itself germaine it has stuck to Christ's teaching that dont impune its hierarchy. No one has to tell us how or why to be good anymore, the zytgyst has gotten too big and too accessible. An atheistic type could chalk it up to social programming and be just as satisfied, I believe.

Parents can determine what to do with their kids.

The solution to that is awareness. Somehow from the time I was quite small I knew my parents were crazy. Maybe it’s because I loved to hang out with the new babies and their moms from our neighborhood and saw how other parents behaved. Also my parents insisted on strict silence about anything that was said or happened in our home. Sus for sure.

When I had my own kids I insisted that they never be hit or hurt by anyone. My father often made comments about how my kids “needed a good spanking”, as if there were such a thing. Finally I told him we would leave our visit if he ever spoke of violence against my children, even leaving in the middle of Thanksgiving dinner one year.

We are all responsible for our own healing and for our own bad behavior, regardless of who taught us to do it. Being an abused child taught me how to be a loving, protective parent. Our home was a fun and peaceful sanctuary. I’m still pretty messed up in many ways, but I managed to raise 3 kids who did not suffer a repeat of what was done to me.

Professionally I have always worked with parents and young children teaching appropriate boundaries and consequences. Those of us who know the truth must stand up for kids.
