I think that's part of it, sure.
Kids do stupid stuff when they are young. In the 60's it was getting high and wearing overly-dyed clothes and screaming "Stop war!" at people who had been drafted and returned home from a war they didn't want to fight. In the 90's it was dressing in black and wearing chains and claiming you were going to summon a demon at your friend's house while listening to music that contained human screams as the backing. Now it's pretending to be a super special type of person and being personally offended by anything and everything...

... But there's a difference now. There's social media.

Where as, if you wore 6 inch soled boots and dyed your hair black and got a lip ring in the 90's your parents just rolled their eyes at you until, one day, seeing that nobody gave a fuck about your favourite band, you just kinda... Washed off all the make up and got a job... Now if you say you're one of the meaningless, special types and complain, companies and governments bend over backwards for no reason at all. People call you brave and beautiful, you get likes and retweets, people attack the people who say you're wrong for you, they make laws to protect you from people actually saying facts to your face and people who dare to challenge you can lose their jobs... Where as hippies had next to no power, this is a massive step up for fads and crazes. We're talking about something so meaningless it actually impacts less than 1% of the population, but businesses are making ads about it and calling their paying customers rude names if they don't like the ad.

With that kind of power suddenly thrust into the hands of someone so stupid that they wake up and think: "I'll just call myself a boy today. Why not?", these kinds of things are inevitable. They are already the kind of people who get caught up in trends, it's just that these trends usually resulting in mostly negative outcomes. Now they are rewarded in large scale and news reporters call them heroes... If you're the kind of person easily addicted to social pressure, and that social pressure is constantly telling you that you're great... It's all downhill.

I don't know about worse, but I think I can take a shot at the reason it has its own word: If I had to guess, I'd say partially because only one is equal part religion and race, same as if someone hated Muslims you'd use "Anti-Muslim" because that's the term for the religion, where as "Arabic" is a race, so that would purely be "Racism". Partially because the others didn't originate from something so internal and, thus, debated - You could hate a Saracen or a Moore in the middle ages, but that was fine because they were far away and you were often at war with them. Jews were your neighbours, had their own district, their own businesses, all in towns near by, and you weren't at war with them... But you still hated them, thus earning a special kind of attention. Same as we might identify the fracture between internal groups as "Classist", because that's where the internal divide was.

And, lastly, because, as you're insinuating, Jews work together very tightly and, because of this history of being forced to be insular, they usually come together on stuff like this pretty quickly, and in the modern world, where being the victim is being elevated, it's an easy stepping stone to get everything you want.

I think the origin of antisemitism dates back to when they were forced out of their homeland, settled in other lands, refused to assimilate to those lands and brought money lending rules that defied the local, Christian money lending rules... Specifically Interest, which made people think they were greedy. In those times, if you were considered something negative, you were socially excluded, which caused them to be isolated and hang out together and hire each other for jobs, hence: "Jews always hire other Jews and give each other the leg up in the world. They are greedy and work together to dominate things."

I think it's a little confusing because the wolf being exposed is on the left and the text is above the other text, meaning you naturally want to read it first, but the idea is:

The innocent, green, good sheep is saying: Making cities walkable is great!
But it's secretly an evil wolf is disguise who has another agenda behind it: Using communism!!

... I don't really understand how one relates to another. I think you could plan your city around foot traffic and still have a free market with little to no starvation, citizen oppressions and gulags, but I think that's the gist it's gunning for.

I dunno about that. That's like saying that some people know that drinking bleach is bad, but can't tell you the chemical reasons why specifically. Understanding that something which turns out bad every time is bad isn't on the same level as claiming it's good and just needs to be done again. I'd rather a bunch of ill-educated people continued to maintain that communism is a failure without being able to tell me the exact downfalls rather than a bunch of ill-educated people saying it will work this time without being able to tell me why it failed. Better to maintain the status quo on ignorance than make things worse out of ignorance.

For my money, the worst ones are the ones that embody the "A little learning is a dangerous thing" saying - They know enough about communism to be able to talk about it without actually understanding or recognizing the dangers and problems that arise from it. They embody the "It looks good on paper" aspect of it.

Honestly, it's strange how this debate is crossing over into realms of "Who gives a fuck".

As long as they are paying for it, I don't care if an adult finds a surgeon who is willing to cut off both their arms and both their legs and swap their position - legs on the shoulders, arms on the hips. You go ahead and ruin your own life with your own money.

What I can't tolerate is someone telling me that this makes that person a whole new type of person and I'm required to now change how I address them, or that this surgery is needed to save their life and I'm required to pay for it, or that people with legarms are under-represented and we need to have laws to give them more jobs and 50% of roles in movies, TV shows and video games should now be reserved for them. Your want legarms? You do you. Good luck finding a decent shirt, but there's bound to be a bored tailor out there who'll take on the challenge for a few extra bucks. Just go mind your own business once you're done.

Boy... Subtle. They really put a loose layer of leaves and twigs over the bias in this report, eh?

Honestly, once the US justice system is done doing backflips to try and word things so as not to offend or exclude a group of people who change their terminology and "Science" daily for the sole purpose of yelling at people on the internet, the amount of work that will need to be done to undo all this nonsense will be staggering. [–]NastyWetSmear 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I think the main reason Eugenics never takes off is because the application of it is, almost universally and by necessity, monstrous. In theory you can look at it and say: "Well, if we just ask people with genetic markers that suggest their child would have a serious disability to adopt instead of breed, we'll be fine"... But what do you do to enforce that law? If someone has a child without your permission, do you kill it? Do you kill babies and then claim to be the good guy? Do you make the parents impotent and barren? Do you chemically force a person to be unable to breed with anyone else under any circumstances and then give yourself a gold medal? Do you just lock the parents up, and if you do, do you just toss the kid into the foster care system? Do you effectively orphan a child and ruin it's life in the name of not creating children who will have ruined lives?

If you don't do one of these things, do you have a law in place at all? There's no repercussions and nothing stopping people from disobeying. You basically have a very strong suggestion.

So in order to perform Eugenics you, essentially, have to start by agreeing to be a monster, even if you're doing it with all the best intentions, and once you're considered a monster, people will want to take away your authority to continue doing what you're doing, and now you have to be an even greater monster if you want to continue by doing it against the will of the people. That means tyranny.

There aren't a lot of people who will sign up to be hated and reviled and almost inevitably removed from their position unless they are willing to try and become a tyrant who rules through violence knowing that it's liable to end poorly for them even if they had the absolute best of intentions... And then there's also the aftermath:

Okay, so you're in power and you're passing down laws to decide who can and cannot breed. You're doing it because you love humanity and you want it to have a bright future free of certain diseases, mental illnesses and deficiencies of thought that you've identified are passed down genetically. You're the Knight Of Infinite Resolve and you're doing your thing... But when you retire, or are killed, or just leave power some other way, what about the next guy? With this law of breeding in place, what if he just decides: "Well hell, I just really hate the Koreans and their KPop bullshit, and also people with that frizzy hair crap. Those guys can't have babies now."?

In theory it seems straight forward, but in practice it's a minefield and it never ends well. It's like Communism. If I said to you: "Let's all just share everything. That way if the country is doing well, we're all doing well, but when we all need to pitch in, there aren't people who are still doing great and others who are suffering!"... But then you end up with a Citizenship Score and your husband is the in the gulag for thinking out loud and the mayor is living in a mansion with a different car for every day of the week while you get rationed a single turnip per working family member and you come to understand that things which seem good in theory can be much more difficult to action once 7.5 billion other people all get involved by being alive and having their own wants and desires... Damn them!
