Nobody's preventing trans women from doing sports, they just don't belong in the women's team. They would be very welcome to join men or form their own teams though.

I think the fact that he's been hiding this from you and lying to you is enough of a reason to leave him. Trans or not doesn't excuse doing things behind your partner's back. Also, his needs/fetish do not take priority over the needs of your children to have an intact family with a present father. Trans women are not women. It's not hateful to recognize that. Humans cannot change sex. He is not a woman. If he thinks he feels like a woman, that's because he views women only as stereotypes, he has never lived as a woman, he has never experienced being a woman, he does not view women as full, complete, complex human beings, just a bunch of stereotypic attributes. Recognizing this is not harmful. He's looking at manmadepussy, does he want to transition? If so, he's looking at making himself a life-time medical patient. You and your family will have to sit by while he goes on HRT, gets breasts, starts wearing women's clothes, you'll have to fund and sit by while he gets extensive surgery to change his body, you'll have to sit by while he dilates several times a day, you'll have to sit by while he gets more and more entrenched in the trans community, you and your children will have to deal with his pain and surgical complications and his psychological issues.

I mean, this doesn't really say anything about where the bar for hate speech goes. There's no reason to believe that it will be the TRA definition that applies. Some of the posters in the other thread are being a tad ridiculous. Everybody should be protected in law against discrimination, harrassment and violence, there's nothing unreasonable about that. It's if we get into the territory of "REeee saying I'm still a man is dehumanizing and violent" that things are becoming a problem. So far we have no idea how this law will be interpreted, but I'm willing to guess that the people making legal verdicts on the matter aren't the Twitter TRA.

It will end when they step on enough toes and make too much noise. They're on their way there and luckily TRA's are their own worste enemies. People know that trans women are not women. Some people will echo the sentiment because they believe it makes them good people, but it will get increasingly more difficult to echo it when they're discovering that those trans women are just men enacting a fetish. People know what a man is and what a woman is. Nobody believes the obese man in a dress and UwU hair ribbons is a woman just because he put on makeup and pretends that his penis is an overgrown clit. People know that only women become pregnant. Men know that women don't have penises. Straight men don't approve of the risk that the woman they brought home has a dick. And even men who would sleep with trans women wouldn't be intrested in brining that trans woman home to meet mom, or marry them and have children with them. Trans people enact a fetish and they are at best a fetish for others. People know that only women have periods. People know that lesbians like other women. When the TRA's get loud enough to entreat on the every day lives of more people and become a nuisance, those people will call it for what it is and refuse to go along with it.

This is a person who's struggled with mental illness their entire life and realized that they couldn't fix it through transitioning. What they're saying is that they spent so much focus on transitioning and their trans identity that they neglected everything else. They've been engrossed in their own mental illness to the extent of not living. What makes it worse is that if they surgically transitioned and went on HRT they didn't just waste 15 years, they probably shortened their total lifespan too.

Of course it's a mental illness. It's not healthy to convince yourself you're another sex than you are. It's not healthy to willingly undergo unnecessary surgery that will make you a medical patient for the rest of your life and undergo treatment that will shorten your life just because you've convinced yourself you're of a different sex. It's not healthy to freak out because somebody refers to you as Him instead of Her, or the other way around. It's not healthy to break down because somebody uses your previous name. It's not healthy to be dysphoric to the extent of being suicidal. It's not extra dangerous for them. The transgender population are far safer in an all-male population than women would be. And the choice isn't between an all-male college or an all-female college (plus a college isn't in any way comparable to a prison). These people always make it seem so trivial to come out as trans, but there's always a tragedy that nobody talks about. Imagine being married to a man since many, many years and having him tell you he wants to live as a woman. Imagine having your father tell you that he's about to go on hormones and change his way of living to be a woman. Your entire family life, changing, your past together becoming a lie, the person you knew and love turning out to be somebody completely different, and you're expected to just go along with it. Or even your child- the beautiful little baby boy you raised all of a sudden telling you he's going to submit to extensive, unnecessary surgery and make himself a medical patient for the rest of his life. Imagine seeing your handsome, strong husband who you adore turn into some kind of sissy porn infantilized version of your own gender. Imagine seeing your father and your life-long male role model turn into some submissive gender stereotype of femininity who squees over going shopping and posts online about his ladydique and creeps on you to discuss women's underwear.

People coming out as trans is a tragedy but all it's ever put forward as is "WOW YOU NEED TO BE SUPPORTIVE OF MY PRONOUNS"
