Podcast -Jordan Peterson & Abigail Shrier discuss identity, gender dysphoria, the increase of gender transitioning procedures among young female adolescents, detransitioning, her personal experiences writing her book "Irreversible Damage", and more. by BEB in GenderCritical

[–]Marigold-plate 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

WTF. Did not watch, but did anyone read the comments?

Because of the clear attack on masculinity, men/boys are less likely to approach and pursue women today vs 15 years ago (especially at this age bracket)- thus the girls are less likely to have healthy male/female relationships and thus feel inadequate/out of place/unwanted

and the next commenter makes the previous clear:

What? Girls' developmental health is dependent on being sexually pursued by boys? Weird take.

Gee... I wonder what might be driving female disphoria... it can’t be the increase in pornographic ads all over the internet that dehumanizes women and girls.

Oh my... censoring language that’s integral to communicating the core of the LGB experience. I didn’t think this would happen. Interesting this happens as superstraight, supergay, superlesbian, and superbi become mainstream. I guess TRAs found a way to erase homosexuals in more ways than one. Conversion therapy for young gay children wasn’t enough.

I hate tights too. I wear over knee socks. The skirts are at knee or to my shins. For colder weather, I wear wool skirts, and paired with my long coat and knee high boots, 5*C weather is warm. (If the over knee socks didn’t get detained for months in Canada Post system, I could have checked it out at colder temperatures before winter was practically over.)

I plan on experimenting for colder temperatures this year (I have more ideas after delving into historical research). I absolutely hate wearing snow pants to keep warm in -15*C mornings. They are hard to move in, especially when I’m climbing over snowbanks piled up over the pedestrian side walks.

After discovering 1800s deep portable pockets, I’ve been really digging gathered skirts (after making an opening for the pocket access). Nobody knows I have pockets and my stuff is hidden by the fullness of the skirt. No more watching annoying purses. Phone, wallet, keys, transit pass, and snacks are all in my pockets. It’s so liberating to be hands free and not having to hold my purse protectively.

I couldn’t get through it. I gave up after that question about why they’d dress ‘en femme.’

Dudes, wearing a skirt doesn’t “make me feel better” or “arouse me.” It feels the exact same as wearing pants. Only difference is that skirts are more available to me because they are the easiest to shop for. For pants, I have to buy them from specialty tall people stores and I have to factor in the cost of getting the waist tailored. I don’t get this headache from skirts.

To those of you who lost friends when you came out as Gender Critical, would you ever take those friends back if they came to see the truth of transgender ideology and tried to come back to you? by Kai_Decadence in GenderCritical

[–]Marigold-plate 12 insightful - 1 fun12 insightful - 0 fun13 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I wouldn’t. It’s not about this one issue. It’s about the thought processes that went behind this issue.

They thought it was an acceptable action to not to hear you out and consider your viewpoint. I can’t respect them after that. I’d like to know I can depend on my friends to be able to think critically. Else, why are we friends? We like the same hobby? Big deal.

My 2cents: if your SO isn’t standing up for you, then maybe the relationship isn’t worth it. The SO should act as a buffer between you and his family. If you’re not okay with the way they’re treating you or one of their demands, SO should put his foot down with that person. It’s fine if SO wants to carry on a relationship with his family, but it’s not fine if in-law is directing something at you and SO stays silent or ignores it because it’s easier.

That’s irrelevant. We already know their logic isn’t grounded in reality. What matters is exposing how entitled they feel, and showing how they think women are second class citizens.

The topic is about Western schools because that’s my experience and I’ve had many people share their horrific tales from Western public schools to validate that it’s happening culturally and to spot commonalities to identify the source of the problem so that we can do something about it strategically. Just because I’m excluding other countries doesn’t mean I’m making indirect commentary on them or minimizing horrors that are going on there. The best place to start making change is locally, where you know how to navigate the fabric of society, know the laws, and make noise with your local government officials.

The UK I believe. However, I grew up in Canada and my school broke many human rights laws. This is a Western problem. Culture has to shift to see children as people, not as property.

Because schools are prisons instead of institutions that build children up to have a clear understanding of where their boundaries are. If it were me, I’d have taken the school board to the human rights court. Aside from that, my post is to highlight that the mom is fighting two battles: one with society and one at home where she is devalued by her supposed partner.

Really pokes holes in their claim that “they’ve always known,” doesn’t it? If they’ve achieved the transition they’ve always felt true to their inner self, they should be happy seeing their body even if they don’t remember the process that lead up to the transition.

I wonder when she’ll get to thinking about the reality of waking up one day, seeing a man in the mirror and scars from mastectomy, while only remembering her life as a woman and not remembering her thoughts that lead to her decision to transition. In addition to all the other stress Alzheimer’s patients suffer through, this added complication is something she brought on herself. I hope the trans community have a real discussion about how they’ll handle this in their dementia years. It’s too naive to believe you’ll be one of the lucky elderly who hold onto their mind until the end. Dementia has many causes and doesn’t discriminate among its victims.

It’s a TRA organization that’s legally recognized by the government as having clout when addressing trans issues. They’re responsible for perpetuating many sex stereotypes to children. I few years back, they published a scale to explain gender identity, with pink Barbie on one end (“girl”) and a GI Joe action figure on the other “boy.” They asked children which they felt like according to the scale.

GC: Why isn't a vagina/clitoris a small penis and why isn't a penis a big vagina/clitoris? by Nohope in GenderCritical

Because this is the full structure of the clitoris. https://images.app.goo.gl/HNVMj3VqvZtdX2uT9

Asserting that the clitoris is equivalent to a penis reinforces the misogyny in textbooks where they ignored the ENTIRE complex structure of the rest of the clitoris that was hidden internally.

Unfortunately, I’ve only been on reddit for a year, so I can’t speak to anything before that. My sub was already complaining of censorship when I joined, but because the sub was still allowed to exist, relocating wasn’t a priority. But now with the ban, I hope we can find a permanent online location. I don’t know if we’ll remain on saidit. What’s to stop the saidit owners from selling out? From what I’m reading, Reddit started out as a bastion of free speech. Look at them now.

this. In response to the posters calling women coddled: we are so coddled that we aren’t allowed to call ourselves female/ women (we are obligated to put “cis” in front of our label or we are literally murdering thousands of trans), recognize our sex class, question a man in a female bathroom, female sports division, women’s shelter, and women’s prison. We get fired from our jobs for saying women aren’t men. Real privileged, right?

“What do I do in the meantime?” Stay under the radar. Don’t debate TRA’s. It’s like debating a Flat Earther. It’s a cult. Can’t see reason if you’re wearing blinders. They reject anything that doesn’t fit into their worldview. Focus on your education and a plan to move to a lesbian friendly area after you get your degree. Slowly build a real support network and financial stability. By the time you get situated at 25, you’ll be in a better position to help lobby the governments for equal rights for women when the backlash begins and the government drags their feet because politicians don’t want to touch these trans policies.
