Honestly, if theses type of romance start to get mainstream in western media nowadays, you would get a flood of advertisement telling you that theses romances as QueerTM and BraveTM, and even the people interested in that would grow sick of this bullshit pretty fast.

Been mistaken for a woman once on twitter (I assumed it's probably some mix of my profile pic and twitter handle, which are supposed to be neutral). I laughed it off, didn't even bothered to correct the guy.

Non-gender-conforming type of romance is a nice idea, but I calling it "queer" is dumb in and of itself, at the end of the day, it's still "man loves woman".

If anyone wants recommandations, on top of my head, you got bisexual guy is in love with androgynous/masculine girl in Persona 4, handsome man in non-reciprocated love with androgynous girl in Ouran Highschool Host Club, and, depending on how you look at it, Ranma 1/2 is basically a harem anime where guys and girls fight over a guy who sometimes becomes a girl.

I don't think they'll be forced out, more like going the EA route: buy the rights to the independant or semi-independant original creations that attact audiences, put them into the bland mold hopping that it'll correspond better for a "wider audience", shit will work at first because of brand fidelity, then it will go down the shithole, the creator will hop on something else and the big producers will start the cycle all over again.

In the end, only the fans and the original creators suffer from this, since the big producers always have the money to buy the newest trend.

Imo, this is a good thing because:

1) It removes all of the self-ID bullshit. From now on, either doctors officially recognize you as such, or they don't, but the "Vichy gays" as I like to call them don't have a say anymore on whenever they're trans or not.

2) If a doctor still indulge into a patient's self-ID bullshit, that doctor can be legally held accountable for medical malpractice, which should discourage such attempts.

3) Good luck to pass as a handicapped person under the scrunteny of insurance companies and governemental help programs.

Why is it always the Straights LARPING as LGBT that seem to be the loudest, most obnoxious and most woke? by BioEssentialism in TumblrInAction

Declaring oneself as “queer” to these Straights is more of a political statement to them than an actual orientation

That's it, you got it. The main issue regarding current LGBT community comes from the way intersectionality works: the more "oppressed" labels you can get (being black, gay, female, etc), the higher you'll be percieved in the social hierarchy. And God forbids if you're one of the "oppressors": a white male cis heterosexual with no mental illness. However, claiming yourself as "queer" is quite easy: since the word is ill-defined, pretty much anyone who doesn't conform to some cliche or another can claim the label for themselves. And unlike being black or gay, where it becomes easy for people to notice overtime if you're faking it, most of the things pertaining to mental illness can easily fool people who don't know much about said mental illness.

Panty & Stocking: Seems like someone hasn't watched the anime. Hell, even the only time Stocking fell in love in the series, it was for the most disgusting man that could exist.

NecoArc: In Carnival Phantasm, she just politely serves her bar's customers regardless of sex

Anya: You mean the same Anya that has undying admiration for her adoptive father, has for rolemodel Bondman, and who was the only one nice to George Glooman after that whole misunderstanding about him leaving the school?

Tiny Tina: The girl who was completely and utterly devastated by Roland's death... suuuuuuuuuuuure...

Question - is this nonsense around pronouns happening in other languages? by GreenScreen in TumblrInAction

[–]KnightWhoSaysNWord 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Well, in theory, the Académie Française is supposed to be the authority when it comes to rules by which the french language abides. In practice, first, it only has authority in France, and not other french speaking countries, like Belgium, and second, only a small margin of people treat this seriously, most people don't care about what the Académie Française says about shit. For exemple, with the democratization of Internet in France, a lot of english neologisms (like spoilers, streaming, e-sports, etc) found their way into the french language, since they had no equivalent. The Académie Française did try to invent french equivalent for theses words, but nobody actually uses them outside of official documents (like court papers or governement texts) because people don't care.

In France, not only we got the creation of a neutral third person pronoun (which didn't existed up until now because the masculine form was considered the neutral one), but the Académie Française decided they weren't inclusive enough and created what's called "inclusive writing".

To explain it simply: up until recently, masculine form was also considered the neutral form when talking about groups of individuals of mixed sexes. For exemple, you have 9 actresses and one actor, and should you want to talk about the group as a whole, you'd stay it's a group of actors. Now, with inclusive writing, it's supposed to be a group of "actor.ress.es". Yes it uses dots within words, and no, at no point in french language up until now did we used dots for anything other than ending a sentence.

Funniest part in all of this is that inclusive writing made it harder to dyslexic children to learn proper spelling, but also, governement banned inclusive writing from its own official texts, because it's an headache to use it. No one wants it, yet people are still supposed to use it.
