Forget the zoomers. There might be some hope for the generation coming after them.

If your sense of well being is dependent on strangers perceiving you in a certain way, you need therapy, not hormones.

Children are always like this lol. They have eyes and no filter yet. Embarrassing for parents but most people get it's what kids do.

The face of a child can say it all. Especially the mouth part.

Doesn’t it develop as the frontal lobe develops, but is only really complete at around 25?

[–]Haylstorm 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

I mean I'm pretty sure most kids have that moment where they get told not to say certain things so learn not to say it. Like how a 3 year old points out (loudly) how fat that man over there is, but a 10 year old if they say it will at least be a bit more quiet.

That makes sense that as the brain develops and matures throughout childhood and adolescence the inhibitory circuits get better and better. I know that a frontal lobe injury can result in complete disinhibition, and that as people move into old age they begin to lose that filter too.

[–]proc0 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

That filter develops as you learn how to behave like a sheep and fit in society as one grows older. In most people, the fear to be shunned is greater than the desire to express an obvious idea or observation.

First world problems, though he has bigger problems than an average person since he gets to put up with the unnatural hormones messing up his brain.

Dysphoria, or reality check?

[–]r2d2_21 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

It's the same as the child yelling that the Emperor has no clothes.

I'm honestly surprised a kid could tell the difference. It's obvious to adults but when I was a kid we all thought anyone with long hair was a woman.

Kids are having to evolve this survival mechanism rapidly so they don't get diddled.

I just assume that the writers of these tweets are just perpetually jacking it. I bet I’m right 80-90% of the time.

probably way worse at passing IRL, probably uses filters/takes a thousand photos to look just right

When the world makes sense, kids just say obvious, dumb shit that you ignore. "mom, that guy is really old", "Yes, now STFU"

In clown world, kids can be brutal truth tellers, threatening people's worldview.

So uh... Dysphoria means depression, right?

[–]jet199 6 insightful - 4 fun6 insightful - 3 fun7 insightful - 4 fun -  (0 children)

It means the horrific realisation you can have everything you want all the time.

[–]cars 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

It means living in reality.

[–]alladd 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

it means nobody is impressed by the girl version of yourself you created to circumvent having to develop empathy in order to date a woman. i mean...why would anyone be impressed by that?

[–]jacques1102 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (14 children)

Honestly question, when has anyone here been misgendered online or in real life and it made them go completely nuts like this?Cause i can tell you that if i was ever misgendered it wouldn't make me go completely suicidal.

[–][deleted] 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

I've been mistaken for a man before, never gave a shit. These people are just fragile.

[–][deleted] 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (3 children)

I have been mistaken for a woman online and it warn't no thing.

[–]IndianaJonesTroons... why did it have to be troons? 3 insightful - 3 fun3 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 3 fun -  (2 children)

To be fair I've seen your legs Muskrat. You claim to be 42 but those legs say 25. I mean dude... you have REALLY nice legs. Haven't seen your face though so who knows.

[–][deleted] 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

Thanks man. I know don't look or sound 42. Runs in the family. I suppose it's a blessing but people treat me as if I were a youngster too sometimes.

[–]IndianaJonesTroons... why did it have to be troons? 3 insightful - 3 fun3 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

yea you got them fully evolved pokemon legs, your wife is a lucky woman

I suppose it's a blessing but people treat me as if I were a youngster too sometimes.

Yeah, that's true. That sucks man.

I got mistaken for a chick once at a tollbooth, back when I was too lazy to get a haircut. I was honestly a little impressed with myself. Like, it's nice to know I don't look like some hulking Neanderthal I guess.

[–]ID10T 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

I had long hair when I was a kid. Adults would think I was girl pretty frequently. I would just say "I'm a boy" and didn't care at all. I knew I had long hair that threw them off. I liked the hair and just didn't care. I knew who and what I was and it wasn't dependent on random strangers.

[–]Alienhunter糞大名 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

No you are a girl sweety and if you don't take hormones and get reconstructive surgery you'll kill yourself.

[–]jet199 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

There actually isn't such a thing as misgendering.

Gender isn't real.

[–]Datachost 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I've got fairly long hair and have been mistaken for a woman from behind a few times. Mostly just react with "Haha, nah. Definitely a dude last time I checked"

[–]Alienhunter糞大名 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Your entire life isn't structured around spending considerable time and money to achieve the impossible. If you'd spent thousands upon thousands of dollars on drugs and weird experimental surgeries to be a woman but they obviously didn't work you'd probably be suicidal as well when people point out that it didn't.

[–]KnightWhoSaysNWord 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Been mistaken for a woman once on twitter (I assumed it's probably some mix of my profile pic and twitter handle, which are supposed to be neutral). I laughed it off, didn't even bothered to correct the guy.

[–]alladd 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

it's because it reminds them that in spite of all the things they've done to convince themselves of a delusion that they'll never really believe it.

their anger isn't at the person doing the 'misgendering', it's at reality for being unavoidable.

that's why they get SO mad. it's a deep, existential thing. they just don't realize that the solution is to embrace reality, not try even harder to deny it.

[–]wylanderuk 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yeah from behind a couple of times because of long hair, I just laughed and probably said something along the lines of "you really need a eye test...."

[–]Airbus320 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Well...

[–]Totoro 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

  1. I doubt you were misgendered at work, HR would have a field day and people are scared of losing their jobs.
  2. You look like a dude pretending
  3. If you got "dysphoria" that easy, then you, as I have been saying, need mental health attention, its a disorder, get it fixed properly.
