you can find small boats for less than $2k easily..

the real expense is maintenance... once every year or two you gotta take the boat out of the water and clean the hull... you gotta do basic maintenance on the motor.. you gotta do basic maintenance on the sails..

..and, unless you have the ability to park it on your own property, you are looking at a few hundred dollars per month minimum to rent a slip to park it in.
