Look up the word martyr. Suicide does not preclude martyrdom.

Can't be suicide. Socrates was a martyr but they made him commit suicide, wasn't really his choice, kill yourself or we kill you.

Suicide has no bearing on it. It is an act of self sacrifice for a cause much greater than himself. It was a noble gesture.

Definition:Martyr One who makes great sacrifices or suffers much in order to further a belief, cause, or principle.

His act is an act of self sacrifice for a cause much greater than himself. It is a noble gesture.

Nothing I have said is wrong or contrary to the definition. It is your assumption that a martyr must be killed by someone else that is wrong.
