You get asked to tip at the dumbest fucking places too. Like I'm not gonna tip you for just putting a donut in a bag then ringing me up for it. I actually did get a dirty look from a clerk from that once too. Fucking ridiculous.

The only place I've seen worse is Egypt, where staff remove toilet tissue from public bathrooms then offer you a sheet in exchange for a tip. What a retarded life. These types have no purpose in life and the world would only benefit from them not existing, much like mosquitos.

Paying for bathroom access and toilet paper is common in many countries. I don't mind it, it's usually only a few cents and the times I didn't have any cash on me they usually let me go in anyways.

When signs explicitly state that staff are NOT to ask for tips and do it anyway, you are in a shithole. And yes, that was in a museum.

I personally condemn any requirements to pay for human bodily functions which are and have been a necessity in our existence since we were a primordial soup, especially when they are so eager to fill you up with street junk food and drinks on tap on every street corner. It's a con.

Frankly, any place that does require payment for a public toilet deserves to have people piss up the wall in protest.

Yeah that's different. As for having to pay for bodily functions, I get what you're saying but someone has to pay to maintain the facilities one way or another. It's just a different system in that the actual user is paying directly instead of through taxes and public works. Usually the cost of living in countries that do this is much less, not a bad tradeoff in my book.

Ah, well that is a fair point. I guess I have higher expectations for Western society which still falls foul of the same. Even places in London and Paris deman payment for public facilities managed by the local authority. The amount they spend on useless nonsense and they can't afford the basics.

I refrain from it even when I feel like it in those situations on principle just like I don't give money to bums. It would be nice to give them a little something but I don't want to encourage it, either.

That's how I feel about it. It feels awkward sometimes hitting "no tip" right in front of them, but I don't want to contribute to turning this into an expectation almost anywhere you buy something edible. They are already being paid for their work by the company
