Do you even know this case?

There was a guy smoking pot with his friends and driving around shooting pedestrians with a pellet gun.

They drove to a basketball court and he shot pellets at some strangers playing basketball.

The strangers went to grab his gun, and he decided to fight them, so they punched him in the face a few times.

The punches proved fatal.

Yeah, obviously a lot of jurors wouldn't send people to prison for life over punching some pothead who was shooting pellets at them. They'd file that under the category of "fuck around and find out."

If you think you can't know the difference between controlling someone (especially when you outnumber the attacker) and beating someone to death, you are a fucking moron.

Apparently smoking pot and having fun with a non lethal pewpew toy is justification to be murdered by your standards. Wtf

I think if everyone involved would die the world would be a nicer place. There are too much people anyway and as such we can afford to lose some.

I don't disagree in a hypothetical sense. That said, the world is full of assholes, I wouldn't murder them all to make it a nicer place if it just creates a new breed of asshole. I don't know, I hate people in general and there are too damn many of them, but I wouldn't condemn people to death for such petty offences, and certainly wouldn't condone the action of the dumbfuck who killed him.

If we decimate the assholes, perhaps the other assholes would become less of an asshole. Either way, there is a win.

From what I understand someone knowingly bought a pellet gun to shoot strangers. What part of that is excusable? Having said that, I am not sure why such guns are even sold to plain citizens instead of people operating an arcade or something like that.

People with a reasonable intelligence and good mental health should be allowed to buy weapons (with some conditions the government doesn't just claim everyone is crazy, etc.), but this gun should never have been sold.

The toy in question was a brightly coloured, electric BB gun that fired splat balls, like a very low power paint ball gun. I have a couple of electronic BB guns, including a pistol and an automatic rifle of the same design as the one he was killed for. They are incredibly weak, wouldn't even cause any pain or injury on impact at anything over 10 meters, and it is visibly a toy. The idea that this was even considered to be a weapon is laughable. Attacking and murdering someone for playing with a splat ball gun is not justifiable in this situation. It wasn't imitation, it wasn't of hunting capability, the ammo was harmless and there was no threat or intimidation beyond going around acting like stoners do, by having a bit of fun.

But they look really, really guilty.
