It's weird that americans think china and iran are these authoritarian regimes when this country is far less free. You aren't even allowed to state your opinions on the internet without your own citizens booting you off the web. That's real authoritarianism. When you don't need secret police to do the policing but instead your brainwashed peers to do it for them. Also if you say something controversial in private you can get fired from your job or kicked out of school which is insane.
