Yeah this is one of those probably true theories. NWA didn't need any encouragement to make their gangster rap, but through the 90s a lot of MCs noticed how thuggishness was encouraged by most of the industry execs. And they found that many owned interest in private prisons.

What an unholy, insidious connection between record companies, rap and private prisons. It's worse than owning slaves. Most private prisons keep inmates in solitary 23 hours a day. Let that sink in. I would be nuts as a bunny in a week.
