Yeah this is one of those probably true theories. NWA didn't need any encouragement to make their gangster rap, but through the 90s a lot of MCs noticed how thuggishness was encouraged by most of the industry execs. And they found that many owned interest in private prisons.

The story originated with the telling of this letter https://goldenageofgaia.com/2020/06/30/the-secret-meeting-that-changed-rap-music-and-destroyed-a-generation-4/

Killer Mike on the topic

What an unholy, insidious connection between record companies, rap and private prisons. It's worse than owning slaves. Most private prisons keep inmates in solitary 23 hours a day. Let that sink in. I would be nuts as a bunny in a week.

I use weapons of math instruction on a regular, day-job-like basis.

A huge geo triangle made from aluminium, e.g.

Also: A circle with quite a fierce, sharp tip, made to impale any board.

In completely unrelated news:

I won a regional contest drawing perfect circles freehand four times in a row.

Per public vote. Not some "wannabe-engineering".

Then why doesn't he stop doing it?

I think Ice Cube branched off into playing a cop on TV and a stoner in a few comedy movies. He's cleaned up his act. Tupac was getting very vocal about the music biz and that may be why he's not around anymore.

Tupac went the opposite direction, clean political kid to gangster wannabe. He reaped the whirlwind from that choice.

what ice cube is missing is that his success is due in large part because of the corporate interests

they don't always 'force' the narrative..

but they empower those that embody that idea. idiots that would otherwise be nothing.

it took ice cube 34+ years to others are tools, yet to figure out he was one

For me, this is a giant, "WELL, NO SHIT" moment. You mean to tell me that many people out there legitimately like Drake, Lil' Wayne, Iggy Azalea, Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, literally every mumble rapper, and whoever the fuck this Ice Spice bitch is?!

The music industry has been faker than wrestling since at least the 90s. How the fuck did ANYONE actually like Puff Daddy back then? I thought he sucked even in the 5th grade!

That one song by Drake, cellphone, is hypnotic and seems to show a kill room but I like it. But the woman on his video shown as a shadow, well that I don't like. Back about 18 years ago there were some really good R & B songs I thought: Holiday Inn, Twister and Kanye (well, well, well, well), Hey Ya, Beautiful, (Snoop and Pharrell), good stuff.

All I know about him is that song but now that I know will be sure not to be seen with him.

i think thug rap is just naturally more popular to black and white young men alike cuz cheesy rap like will smith made just sucks. rock and roll was edgier than the music before it too.

And he should know this because he profited big time from it.
