Root your device. Install your preferred automation app and terminal (tasker and termux would work) then set tasker to launch termux on phone start.

root your device

That is the only part that I am unclear about.. I think that I would prefer to just buy a phone that is rooted from the factory.

I think you are thinking of an unlocked bootloader. Unlocked is whether the device is tied to a particular service provider like sprint or Verizon or cricket or any other. Those you can buy unlocked. Rooted is very different. Many service providers, especially Verizon and the phones provided with Amazon stuff built in have the bootloadera locked. Some can be unlocked by simple code requested after the phone is paid off, others won't unlock them and you need to hope a way is found. XDA folks have ways to unlock the bootloader for many devices that the manufacturer doesn't want unlocked.

To root your phone you must have the bootloader unlocked, so buying an unlocked one saves that step, but you must still root the device to access those benefits.

Rooting your phone is basically like using a windows PC on an administrator account versus a severely limited user account. It vastly increases what you can do with the device, not just who you can choose as your service provider. While a factory won't sell a rooted phone directly that I can think of, there are sellers on eBay that sell rooted devices.

I have been writing code since 1983. My first computer was an Atari 400. I wrote Atari basic, then Atari assembly, then in 1981 I got my first C ide/compiler for msdos... Later I found Linux ..

So, I am aware of what root privileges are, just fyi..

I somewhat understand that you can play a bunch of monkey games to unlock the bootloader and somewhere along there you install SU, which allows me to have ROOT privileges.

I don't think I want to do it that way, but instead I would prefer to just go to Walmart and buy a ROOTED phone that is rooted from the factory.

I also understand that I can buy an unlock code, but again, I don't want to do that either.

I think I will just buy an already factory rooted phone from Walmart.

Unless I am missing something.

Thanks for the response.

What type of phone would you be wanting? I usually check the xda forums before I buy to make sure it is rootable. I wouldn't recommend a rooted phone for your main or only device especially if you do your banking and personal accounts on it. You can keep it secure but it becomes potentially more vulnerable, especially if you aren't aware of the risks. The Google Play store recognizes if the phone is rooted and some apps will not be available like Netflix, Hulu and many banking apps. You can install anything you want outside of the store though.

I do understand that I don't want to do secure stuff on a rooted phone, agreed.

I want to not be restricted about automated sending and receiving of sms, for example.. I found code that allows me to read the database of incoming sms, but if you are not rooted you can't read that fille.

Also, I think it would be kinda fun to have a an Android that just boots up to a shell and my Bluetooth keyboard is already configured. Ie, no graphical interface, just a rooted shell.

One more thing I would sorta like is to be able to on the cool read princess Diana's text messages, because she and I are gonna get married just as soon as she gets back from a little road trip she was going on.. I am getting a bit worried about her. "Di" loves me and wants to have my children, all twelve of them.

Ok, forget the other stuff.. I just NEED to hook up with the princess again. I promise it's not puppy love, it's really real love. I am sure that she is worried about me. She calls me prince Edward.

That's it.
