They are. Just as parts of the Koran, Torah, Rig Veda are. Any sectarian state has distance itself from any particular religion. I certainly don't want Sharia Law (or any other religious law) dictating policy in my community either. You can have common sense law that reflects the morality of the whole community without religion. This ahole has no right to attack anyone based on his beliefs. The same is true for the other side as well. I certainly won't put up with someone form the LGBTQ community dictating what I should shouldn't believe or the language I use. Dogma is dogma, and I simply won't allow it to piss on my karma.

Wrong. You can't tell people to STFU about their religions in a tolerant society, that's not how it works.

From an atheist's perspective, the more people go on about their religion the better.

right, because eventually you will come to a saving faith in the Lord Jesus and not go to Hell; that's MUCH better for you!

And yet there's no prayer in schools.

Tell me you've never been in a school but use different words

That makes no sense. What public school requires (or even allows) prayer?

That's a red herring

[–]UncleWillard56 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

red herring - something, especially a clue, that is or is intended to be misleading or distracting. "the book is fast-paced, exciting, and full of red herrings"

Nah, it's an argument, but I'm not trying to mislead you. Public preaching? I'm fine with that as its covered by the First Amendment, but singling out a person because they hold different views and screaming at them in public is harassment.
