When their movie anti heroes say screw society and teach the stupidity of mindless conformity?

This is hard-wired into us. In the past, social rejection meant death, as humans have evolved to be communal. Of course people can live alone, but that's only because we can learn survival skills from others before stepping into isolation.

After death phone calls and messages tend to taper off.
