Animals do what is natural for them. We have the ability to change our nature. Completely. Few people go this far. But they exist. And can be scarier than any animal.

Monsters still pursue pleasure and run from pain, but their ways for doing it can be completely alien. Impossible to predict. Very hard to understand.

there are evil and morally good animals... I've met both.

I once came upon a squirrel eating the face off another squirrel while it was still alive.

People seem to sometimes forget that human beings are a type of animal.

lol... I don't doubt that that is the case, but fortunately it is something I've only ever seen once. and at that moment it involved squirrels.

A squirrel can get angry or crazy, but it stays a squirrel. It squeaks and bites, it doesn't learn how to fly or conquer half the planet. Madness alone can only get you so far.

Because as an animal, a squirrel has to work with what it sees. Humans have words. With words, everything we've ever encountered can be connected together in a controllable system. We can summon every idea in our head at will, whenever we want.

A word can have several meanings. The word "animal" is sometimes used for moving creatures that aren't human.

I agree, it's "natural" for plants to kill each other. I'd say it's natural for humans to kill each other too. But we do also have the ability to recognize when it's more advantageous for us (and others on the planet) to not kill (or "hate"). These advantages are many, and may have led to our evolution past plant and lower-animal intellect & ability. Maybe there is higher life form(s) who sees all outcomes and always makes the best possible decision for everyone/thing? Maybe we can aspire to be more like that.
