Their major, and probably only, mistake is recommending Discord, which is heavily censored and partially owned by Communist China. What they should've said was Matrix.

It's been ages since I've touched an IRC. They're cool, but I never really liked group chats; I only use Matrix to talk one-on-one. That's also why I never use the chat panel unless someone says so'm weird and I can't ignore it.
