The Boys - Official Trailer - If you haven't, you guys need to watch this show; The "superheroes" serve as a metaphor for many things, celebrities being one, and I'm sure a lot of you will pick up on all the symbolism and the true meaning of this show.

The true meaning of this show is to completely forget what it means to be a "hero" and taint the label once and for all. The Wikipedia articles on "Early History" of the producers and directors say it all.

There's a lot of things that happen in the show. If you watch the show viewing the superheroes as nothing more than celebrities in our world, things make a lot more sense.

There is no difference between the superhero who calls his adoring fans cocksuckers under his breath and the celebrities in the real world who do the same. The show humanizes superheros unlike all other superhero shows/movies; they aren't robots with an urge to do good. Some have selfish, dark or perverse motives - others actually want to help, but discover they just became a prisoner of sorts to a major corporation trying to work it's way into the government and military despite the whole world (including themselves, previously) viewing the level they just reached as the ultimate freedom and chance to do real good.

Celebrities are our superheros, our idols, our gods, in the "real world". Normies & children worship & want to be like them, without realizing they're under a tighter leash than them most-likely, unless they're willing to do some of the most disgusting things imaginable.

If you do not have an ultimate avatar of good to mirror yourself, then its only a corrupted version of it. Its worthless to spend any minute of your attention on this BS. The villain also is comically done and reflects well the fears of the producers.

I respect your opinion.

I think there's a lot to see and pick-up in this short series, despite whatever the producers and directors may have said; we all know real-world symbolism is hidden in programming.

I honestly don't see this as a show about Superheros, I see them as metaphorical devices. And honestly, I too thought the show would be shit when I first saw the trailers. But again, watching it with your "They-Live" glasses on gives it a different perspective entirely that's not even hidden.

The problem is the people with such glasses are a tiny minority.

If you want to promote a more wholesome Netflix show (if that ever was a thing), Cobra Kai is relatively mild and has great surprises. Normies will dig the 80's vibe, the mocking of leftists and even get their dose of fighting. Only few degeneracy moments, and they appear at the spots you predict they will.

And thank you for the recommendation, I definitely will check it out! Myself and other users have made threads like this before where we'd post series or shows that a lot of people thought were stupid (or had a stupid premise), but were really predictive programming filled with symbolism like Colony or Containment. Containment literally came out in 2015, and predicted this whole "Pandemic" we're currently living in, down to the shut-downs, face masks, 5-6 feet apart rule, everything.

It's honestly kind of fun and interesting watching shows you know contain predictive programming and seeing just how much was revealed to us (and in cases like Containment, or even Contagion of 2011, a lot is revealed).

This is a spoiler, so don't continue reading if you don't want anything spoiled, but it's an example of the symbolism, metaphors and hidden messages within the show.

There's 7 A-List superheros who have contracts with a corporation that work with the government; the newest one is innocent, naive and genuine. She's powerful, she's pretty, but she's not in it for the money, publicity or celebrity status and treatment - she wants to make the world a better place, for real, whereas everyone else with powers says the same shit, but truly only cares about themselves.

Her first night getting welcomed into "The 7" she's forced to preform oral sex on one of the seven superheros she had always looked up to, or else he was going to lie about her, to get her kicked out of the "7" (which would limit the amount of good she could do on a global scale, as well as disappoint both her and her mother), so she does it. That was a #MeToo moment if I ever saw one.

It could be good but it needs to push liberals harder. It's easy to write endless young naive kids becoming cynical wise guys vs secretly evil rightwing heroes. It's harder to write a character who you disagree with, like a good religious character who stays religious even after she's moved to the big city rather than just losing her identity and agreeing with all the other smartarses (who are you in fiction form). And the accents are awful.

It's still better than most of the new series out in the last few years.

Season 2+ has the actress from You're the Worst, that was a good show too.

I watched this when I was bored one day and out of Netflix options, I had skipped over it many times. It didn't sound that great, more superhero BS. I'm glad I did, it's a fantastic show.
