It is and only an asshole wouldn’t understand it. What I take offence to is the blatant commercialization of it, companies who didn’t give a shit about the black community at all until it started trending on twitter. Same can be said for lgbt issues. I work in marketing and I know all too well about the insincerity of brands and how their real goal is to appeal to be involved in social causes when the real goal is just to add more black ink on the bottom line.

Also, there is a time and place for everything. If I go to a dating site I’m not particularly interested in focusing on socio political issues. But at the same time it’s their website, like I said, and I’m free to patronize it or not and they’re free to focus on what they want. But I’m looking for dates on the dating sites I choose to spend the time to visit.
