I thought they were really cool until someone pointed out that the water in them would get stagnant really quick because there is no drainage, filtration, or fresh water. They also probably collapse when it rains. There is a reason construction crews are required to have giant steel walls put down into holes like this when they work on pipes. They do have really good dirt though, I wonder if they could make bricks out of it and build shit that would actually last for centuries.
