Yeah, I did oversimplify. My carrier doesn't get along with flashed ohones for some reason. So I do the next best thing and disabled/removed all the google stuff manually. I use apkpure for apps. Not a perfect solution, but it gets the job done and the unlimited data is cheap.
As for Linux, Arch used to be my shit, back before systemd. I never could get it to work right after that clusterfuck showed up. 😒
