I dunno man...I'd say that most proprietary software is shit - not because they're unreliable, but because data mining is their primary (hidden) function, then the thing that they're advertised to do takes second fiddle. Window dressing - a wrapper for sanctioned spyware, in essence. The world is full of stable FOSS software that is auditable.

Also, can't really take the author of this tech article seriously as someone who lost years of creative work because he kept all his voice memo recodings on his iPhone. If he had any sense at all, not only would he not be using an iPhone, he'd back up that important data as a matter of top priority.
