It's not even so much as the fact that many apps are built as spyware as their primary function, and the thing they're advertised to do is actually the secondary function, or 'wrapper' of the data mining function (i.e. a brick-breaking game that needs access to your storage, photos, messages, contacts, location, etc.), but the platform they are released on (Apple Store, Google Play) require their own frameworks that also perform data mining. So even if you are an app developer who values user's privacy and choose to not include functions that data mine, in order to release your app to a wide audience, your app will automatically include the tracking functions of the framework you are forced to use.

It's a step in the right direction toward better privacy, but it's funny that they're doing it as a 'fad' rather than for the reason that smartphones are basically spies in their pockets - nefarious little digital beasts. All phones can be tracked, but a flip phone will free them from the dozens of apps these kids have installed on their smartphones (and the operating system themselves) that scrape every bit of data they can from them possible...and it isn't to help create a better user experience, I assure you.

Yes, SearXNG is a fork of SearX, which is described as a "privacy-respecting, hackable metasearch engine" that is open source and self-hostable. I've run a private instance of the core SearX for a few years, but I've considered hosting a public instance to add to the list of 104 public builds of SearXNG that are currently available. I recommend everyone try SearX/NG first before caving to use a seach engine that may put their privacy at risk, especially one that's 100% spyware such as Google. Add it to your bookmark bar, because unfortunately there are issues making it the default search engine in most browsers.

Soros is a lot better at keeping his name away from certain projects he funds (like Antifa and BLM) as to be more in the shadows, but Schwab is just so fucking brazen that he straight up comes right out as says he's gonna rule the world and destroy everyone's lives, and there's not a goddamned thing anyone can do about it, and I'm almost certain it's gonna come back to bite him in the ass. He can't seem to comprehend that the thousands he has working under him all have friends and family that will be affected negatively by his evil plans, and I think he may be placing too much faith in their devotion to him. I wouldn't be surprised one bit at some type of military coup, poisoning, or targeting of each and every member of WEF by all kinds of different personell - military and intelligence alike, from all over the world.

I sure as hell don't trust reassurances from Pfizer or Moderna or any of their fans and shills.

This is the key here, and it's inscredibly disheartening how many people would not only trust implicitly, but go to bat for these creatures whose modus operandi since the founding of the pharmaceutical field has been to place the importance of profits over safety and effectiveness, with testing of their products done on the unwilling or on those who have no choice but to comply. Many pharmaceutical companies have long histories of undeniably evil actions across the globe, and it's dumbfounding how this isn't recognized nowadays. It certainly is all psychological operations, pharma companies taking pages right out of the Rand Corporation's playbook on psyops, and especially the younger generation is so transfixed on mindless entertainment to care, and those who do actually care face peer pressure from those who do drink the gov't & pharma kool-aid. It's so disheartening, but there does seem to be some glimmers of hope. My big concern is how far will they let this "great awakening" go before it's decided some major, catastrophic even needs to occur to detract attention to it. Maybe roll-out the planned Cyber Polygon worm to disrupt global internet communications...or worse.

It's generally agreed in the FOSS community and among developers who are privacy and security conscious that using Cloudflare is simply a lazy approach to DDOS mitigation. I've mentioned in another thread that I've long considered developing a similar forum, would not use Cloudflare, would have a .onion address accessibele using TOR, and I would ensure the site to be operational with javascript turned off. I do respect user privacy above all other things, and while I agree clearnet is flooded with AI and content mill-generated content, there is still plenty of organic content to be found. I know this because I am typing this reply with my fingers. Of course, you have no way of knowing this for certain, but you're gonna just have to take my word for it.

Yes, I see several spam messages (just like we see here constantly when clicking on the 'new' tab), but also many directly relating to 9/11 investigations. It looks like the forum was created by memeber Phil Jayan, who, in his inital stickied post Forum Questions, Issues, Bugs and Suggestions states that he doesn't have a lot of time for that first post, which leads me to believe he's a pretty busy guy and just threw that forum up to continue it after the old forum lost it's hosting (or whatever the case was). According to his profile, he was last seen on Nov 21, 2022, so he obviously doesn't keep tabs on the site every day and clearly needs some help with moderation.

Maybe you could create an account over there, drop Phil a line and offer to help with spam reduction/moderation, if you have time. Seems like decent forum software, I don't see any trackers listed in uBlock Origin, so the site looks safer than this site as a matter of fact, which is behind Cloudflare that does indeeed track users. Why Saidit is Cloudflared is beyond me, because doing so shows a lack of respect for users imo. There are other methods of DDOS protection that do not involve compromising user's privacy.

EDIT: Also, remember that 9/11 happened over 20 years ago, and isn't the hot topic is was back when the site was originally created. Users are elsewhere now, on other platforms that get more traffic where their posts generate more views and discussion.

Very similar to those who claim they don't care about thier own digital privacy ("If I've done nothing wrong and have nothing to hide, why should I care if I'm being tracked or spied on?"). When you don't care about your own privacy and allow big tech to spy on you, you are allowing them to spy on everyone else you communicate with, whether they consent to it or not. Ignorant fucks.

While sexual orientation definitely has sociological impact, this particular case can be interpreted as the professor stating "you may be more gay than you think" - not so much as to give students an idea of how homosexuals are perceived or treated in society, but more as to sway them toward homosexuality in a purely sexual context. If you view the vid posted on that page, it's pretty clear that that professor is as light in his loafers as they come, and I wouldn't be surprised if he was using his course just to get some of his straight male students to 'experiment'. It's pretty well known that the holy grail to gay men is to "convert" straight guys right into the sack, and the university teacher/student sexual relationship is as old as society itself. Just look at ancient Greece.

Future of Said It. by [deleted] in AskSaidIt

[–]Gaydolf_Titler 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Even before my (long overdue) departure from reddit several years back, I had considered developing a censorship-free reddit-style link aggregator/discussion forum that would be heavily privacy-focused for users (unlike, ahem...certain sites that are Cloudflared or rely on advertising like Google Analytics). But because I wouldn't allow advertising or cross-site scripting (and really would prefer to use no javascript at all), the site would need to rely on donations to pay for hosting, unless some sort of blockchain token was employed that users could purchase to help pay for hosting and reward other users for content. And therein lies the problem - I am extremely idealistic when it comes to user privacy, and would not want folks to pay for said tokens using traditional means that could allow for tracking. The only real alternative is to only accept anonymous payments in Monero, but that would of course severely limit the user base.

Another reason it's never materialized is that I'm just one guy who trusts literally no one. While automod bots can help, they're not anywhere near foolproof, and I don't see how I could possibly find a mod crew that I wasn't constantly suspicious of, considering the overall theme of said forum(s) would be conspiracy-based, and likely would attract a whole range of undesireables. I've run into this problem before (many years ago) running forums that dealt with highly controversial topics, and it sucks when you find out one of your crew glows.

I'd consider it if someone of means were to completely fund it, including covering the cost of my time for development and server administration + a bit of pay for a small mod crew, but I don't really see that happening. I've thought about reaching out to some folks in politics, but I'd trust them even less than some anon who says he agrees with my priciples. Bottom line is that simply being the founder and admin of such a highly controversial site would put a big target on ones back, and while I'm a truth-seeker, I'm not a stupid one with a death wish.

In the meantime, I just work on other stuff that, while being focused on security and privacy, doesn't deal with user-generated content that could get me or a crew in tons of hot water. I'm paranoid enough as it is, but hats off to others who have the balls to do it.

[–]Gaydolf_Titler 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

My interpretation of this ban has been the idea that since the Nord Stream 2 pipline was to supply a good portion of Europe with natural gas from Russia through Ukraine, and NS2 along with the Nord Stream 1 pipeline were rocked with explosions (sabotage) just like Biden promised, the US will now be able to sell that gas to UK and much of Europe instead of Russia. Of course doing so would mean a lot less natural gas would be available in the US, so a ban on gas stoves would reduce the need for that gas. If there was a ban on gas stoves, most Americans might barely notice that there wasn't any gas left because it was all sold to Europe, and probably wouldn't revolt as much.

Definitely seems like something the WEF would recommend. Right up their alley as a matter of fact.
