The earth clearly has finite resources, to believe that they are unlimited would indeed be foolish. It just won't run out in our lifetime, or for several generations to come, or our consumption will never exceed availability.

There is a theory natural gas and oil are periodically expelled from the Earth's crust, and are still being formed and will always form to this day. Just how much isnt known yet, but it shows how this theory was never explored, given we haven't exhausted major oil fields.

global warming will most likely not have any effect on my life, because my life expectancy is short..

but, the glaciers are melting... the perma-frost in canada is melting.. the bees are losing their internal compasses.. those issues alone could cause catastrophic situations.
