I agree, probably almost every group performed human sacrifice at some point. The greeks talk about it in their myths. So do the hebrews. The Norse did it. Certainly some melanesians were doing it until the last century.

But we should be clear when Natives start talking about the barbarity of Christopher Columbus or Col. Custer. They ritually sacrificed children even. It was pretty wide spread. Not exactly Utopia.
