While modern china does have capitalist elements, it is directed primarily by the party and the president making it less of a free market and instead a command economy, which I'm pretty sure is a similar system to nazi germany. Most would not put the blame of the holocaust at the fate of capitalism, but rather nazism/fascism, so I would sya it we be more accurate to say that the deaths in china were the result of Maoism, rather than capitalism.
