Man, the Democrats are really doing some ratfucking, aren't they. First they work with the non-MAGA Republicans to pass a spending bill, then they work with the MAGA Republicans to bring down the speaker and create chaos in the conference.

It's gotta feel good for them. I once read a memorable comment that from 2014-2018 the Congress was basically the plot of Air Bud: McConnell kept dunking on them and they kept saying "But... but dogs can't play basketball!"

It'll be fucking hilarious if McCarthy wins the Speakership on the fifteenth ballot again.

Why would the Democrats want to bite the hand that fed them? McCarthy was playing ball with their team. He was ousted for being too conciliatory. He's not going to be played twice if he does get back the speakership.

I'm not sure what their play is here except to radicalize the right even more with the expectations they will lose elections ultimately because of it.

I think the Democrats consider it possible that the Republicans will end up so hopelessly divided that five of them will say "Fuck it, I'm voting for Hakeem Jeffries," and we'll have the first ever Speaker from a minority party.

Seems unlikely, but we're in really, really uncharted waters here.

I already saw that idea being floated around by AOC, electing a Democrat Speaker of the House. I don't see that happening.

She's hardly the first person to talk about it. For fifteen straight ballots last time, Hakeem Jeffries got every single Democratic vote.

So the question is: if after like 53 ballots the Republicans still can't select a Speaker and the House still can't do anything... what do they do? Do five of them break for Hakeem, or do they just say "fuck it, there's no Congress until 2024. The legislative branch is shut down."

And fuck if I know. We'll see if they get to 53 ballots. Who knows, maybe they'll elect someone on the first ballot. Seems unlikely, but it's possible.

It most likely has to do with Ukraine funding. Mcarthy pushed forward a temporary spending bill that excluded it. The neocons were furious, and the neocons effectively control both parties. Watch what happens. I guarantee you that 24 billion will get passed regardless of who is speaker now, and the message was if you fuck with our Ukraine funding you will be removed.

This isnt defending Mccarthy. He was hardly making a principled stand and would have ensured it passed eventually, but the neocons are concerned that it would set a precedent, embolden war critics and make funding their Ukraine blood bath further even harder in the future.

It’s because they are stupid. These are mostly rat-people who are clever, like rats, but don’t have long term thinking in their ken. They put Trump on trial, not realizing he LOVES the publicity as a victim. He’ll also be exonerated by the SCOTUS, but they don’t think that far ahead. It’s because they are rat-people.

Newly elected Republicans allow Democrats and their weaponized collusion of corporate propaganda outlets to bully them into appointing a Fake Republican from California as speaker of their House....then are aghast to learn that he had did secret deals behind their back, to fund Democrats' dubious support for Nazi's in their 10+ year long genocidal war against Russian speaking Ukrainians.

Who would have though that the fake Republican would cheat against the Republicans...shocking I tell you!

It's like Demoncrats can't win without cheating, pulling fire alarms, using fake charges against their opponents, funding billion dollar brand destruction foreign funded dark money campaigns, rigging elections with every possible manipulation, even having Zuckerborg election fixing companies running battle ground county ballot counting, and infiltrating their opponents with plants.

Do we even have close to a democracy left anymore?
