Except it is not a coping mechanism, it is literally taught. You can't have any conversation with a liberal about welfare without them making up claims about how poor people are victims and that is WHY they are poor, and that makes welfare required to even out the playing field. In reality MOST poor people are poor because of their own decisions and actions and no matter how much welfare they receive they will always continue making those poor decisions and will continue to fall back into poverty; relatively speaking.

Sure, but the entitlement attitude is the coping mechanism. Not many people like to feel like a leech on society so they make up this story to justify it that them just being alive entitles them to certain "rights" which are almost always gibs. There's no real way to change that without serious cultural upheaval which we're so far from it's basically a fantasy at this point. We don't even have vocal cultural agreement on drag kids so don't even think about reforming that gibs attitude.
