I really don't think enough blame goes to the judges in these situations.

People get mad at the fact but everyone should know that judges name and they should be forced out of a job.

But I suppose the same could be said of our politicians as well. No REAL accountability.

My mom got pulled over for blowing a red light in the city.

She hadn't REALLY and my sister was best friends with a girl whose dad was a lawyer in the city. Not a big shot by any means but certainly "in the know." So, she mentioned it to him.

He said, no problem. Just one thing. "What?" I know you. Whatever you do, don't laugh.

So my mom shows up on the court date and the case is called.

Judge says, "Oh hai Mr So 'N So Lawyer Man."

"Hello, sir. (As an aside, "Client, STF.")"

Judge to lawyer: "My son recently purchased a new strip mall in the north east. You wouldn't happening to be looking for any new office space would you?"

"No, sir. I'm quite happy with my current office space."

"Fair enough. Case dismissed."

Yup got a buddy that interned in a law office of a very good never lost a case type lawyer. Turns out he was very good golf buddy with all of the local judges. I'm sure it's just a coincidence though.

It happens at all levels. The father of my sister’s best friend in middle school was an attorney in the city where my mom got a bogus traffic ticket. She happened to complain to him and he said don’t worry, I’ll take care of it. Just promise me one thing. When we get up before the judge, do me one favor and do not laugh.

So they get up before the judge and after the normal formalities, the judge says, counselor, you wouldn’t happen to be looking for new office space would you? No, you’re honor I’m not. It just so happens that my son is opening a new mini mall and looking for tenants. Thank you, your honor, that’s a very kind offer. We’re very happy where our offices are right now but we’ll certainly keep that in mind. Thank you, counselor, have a good day. Case dismissed.

My guess would be that the corruption is not quit so blatant as 30 years ago but then perhaps it is.

Is that the property where they used to hold the hot air balloon festival?

Growing up, I had friends in suburban Philly. There was this story that went around. I don't know if it happened in Delaware County (PA) outside Philly or northern Delaware.

So there's these cops staked out late at night with a speed trap. A blip comes up on their radar showing almost 200 mph but they don't see anything so they think maybe there's a issue with the radar and get it checked out but everything's good.

Next week, they're back out there, same time, same thing happens. Now they're just plain curious. So week three comes along and they bring out flood lights and put a movement/trip wire on them. Turns out old man DuPont put on night vision goggles, shut off all his car's lights, and decided to rip across the countryside at insane speeds.

What source? Your title implies that Joe got the mansion AFTER the Du Pont trial. This type of fact-fail isn't good for your reputation.
