Americans are not educated to realize this today, but if they think that because the US recovered from the debt bubble caused by the Great Depression and WWII, they should know the New Deal was not even necessary. Recessions recover on their own. Government intervention causes depressions.

The Great Depression was not necessary, but it was still better than the 2008 collapse. The New Deal at least required people to work at government jobs instead of just being given the 2008 handouts and bailouts.

If there were no bailouts and welfare, the economy would be recovering by now instead of being laden with debt.
