No study shows any improvement from any of these treatments. "Life saving" just means some activists pulled a statistical signal out of some short-term, highly subjective polls of people about their own self-reported "suicidality." These studies have been debunked (for example).

I suspect that in the general case of surgery, that doesn't make any sense.

He was talking about some surgery that trans people get. Probably the removal or augmentation of breast tissue, as that's the one that more trans people get. But he only said "life-altering", so I took the opportunity to start the discussion about consenting to surgery in general.

And then, because the regret for this kind of surgery is so much lower than for other types of surgery, we could discuss why he thinks that the difference should be in the objectively wrong direction.

But you appear to be fixated on your sexual fetishes, and unable to discuss consent with respect to surgery in general. Which is fine of itself, but you shouldn't project your fascination with child abuse on to me. That's your problem to deal with.

And now you're beating around that fact, trying to pretend you argued something less indefensible. At no point was the discussion about surgery "in general", so you're just bullshitting now.

Also, as far as regretted surgeries go, not only are these often regretted (suicide rates remain the same post-op), they are probably the most visible in terms of people posting "I regret this, I'm in so much pain, why did I do this to myself" online. So not sure how you got that conclusion.

Children shouldn't be able to consent to any cosmetic surgery, period, which is what all trans surgery is. If you think otherwise you are defending child abuse.
