Thinking like a lawyer, these consent questions are going to be argued as to whether it was truly informed consent. In order for "consent" to hold up, the hospital / doctor needs to be able to demonstrate to the court that the person fully understood what to expect. That is super dubious in cases like this. I really hope the hospitals lose some big cases on this. They need a HUGE slapping down. Institutional medicine has a massive God complex these days and needs to be cut way back to size.
