If everyone carried guns mistakes would be made and people would shoot the guy who was trying to stop the shooter.

Depends. You'd need a confusing circumstance and some heavy odds. Usually it's obvious who's the baddie. Usually folks can't shoot straight anyway. Add those up and you've got slim chances. I'd rather take my chance with fair and equal freedom than only let the illegal criminals with guns and the mafia government criminals with guns have weapons leaving the rest of us vulnerable to their predatory bullshit.

I agree, the problems aren't so easily solved as by arming everyone. If they were it would have been done already.
