The water is diverted from those rivers, mostly by farmers, in reckless and selfish excess, before it gets to the Southwest.

We want to pretend if only we sell more units of some toxic electronic alternatives some politician invested in, that it will magical fix the problem. Yet, the real problem is unsustainable farming, the ignorance and disdain urban politicians have for farmers, and coupling that with an ever growing population.
