Everybody in Atlanta wanted to send him up the river at the time. His career is over and he is virtually unemployable.

I know this article didn't really get into the specifics of how they claimed to know it was intentional in the first trial, but on the face of it, I don't see how it could have been proven "beyond a reasonable doubt", unless there was some really damning evidence of premeditation.

Even if they could show he was unhappy as a parent or something, I don't think that's enough.

People seem to want to punish others for accidents these days, especially if they're not a paragon of virtue.

He should have been charged with manslaughter, not murder. The guy does seem like a piece of shit, but it shouldn't have affected the verdict the way it clearly did.
