It shouldn't be. There's strict training and protocol.
I mean even to hand a completely useless solid replica over to another crew member there's set lines you have to learn and say for the sake of safety.
All the actual gun shots can be done better with sfx and post.
It sounds like they were picking up random real old guns and letting the actors choose which to use. Probably because of the upper class left wing obsession with authenticity.
