An embryo is not a baby.

Which is why the amount of sympathy and social acknowledgement you get when you miscarry at 2-3 months is virtually nil.

Oh yeah for sure, it's treated socially the same as a bad diarrhea run. You're totally right.

That logic is exactly the same as Nazis saying Jews are't people so it is ok to kill them. You are despicable for dehumanizing babies to take their murder off your conscience.

[–]FediNetizen 6 insightful - 3 fun6 insightful - 2 fun7 insightful - 3 fun -  (8 children)

Logically, it is the same. The difference is one of those statements is true, and the other isn't.

[–]Canbot 7 insightful - 3 fun7 insightful - 2 fun8 insightful - 3 fun -  (7 children)

Irrelevant. It is a common tactic to dehumanize your enemies when you are at war. Particularly to brainwash your soldiers with that kind of propaganda so they don't hesitate to murder people on the battlefield.

No one is at war with zygotes, you idiot.

[–]ReeferMadness 5 insightful - 4 fun5 insightful - 3 fun6 insightful - 4 fun -  (3 children)

There are 1.2 million abortions in the US per year. That is more people killed than in all the declared wars in the world combined, you idiot.

One is the potential for life, the other has experienced/is experiencing life actively. Massive fallacies in your logic here.

[–]ReeferMadness 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

It is not a fallacy. You are just so brainwashed you refuse to acknowledge reality.

[–]FediNetizen 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

The guy whose username is literally "ReeferMadness" accuses other people of being brainwashed, lol.

Yes we are

A baby isn't small enough to go missing in a coin purse.

[–]Canbot 5 insightful - 4 fun5 insightful - 3 fun6 insightful - 4 fun -  (0 children)

A baby is not defined by it's size. It is no less human simply because it is smaller than you.

idk what heathens you associate with, but for me and my friends its a deeply sad thing

[–]GConly 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Compared to actually losing a baby, it's not in the same ballpark.

[–]ethiopia 4 insightful - 4 fun4 insightful - 3 fun5 insightful - 4 fun -  (0 children)

that's a combination of factors, one being that complications during pregnancy and losing a pregnancy are more common, and also because people value a little baby over a fetus.

that isn't a good argument for abortion being moral.

look don't get me wrong, i'm down with the radfem arguments, coming from a very marxist background, reproductive labor, etc. I just view society, the world, from a different epistemological/philosophical standpoint than purely marxist (materialist/atheist) point. Although I have learned much from it.

I don't believe that it is a political issue, women ending their pregnancies. I think it is a moral issue. And I am allowed to have a moral disagreement. From a more reasoning perspective, I think it is absolutely ridiculous to women giving up their incredible power in creating life, educating their children, in favor of public education, propoganda/waste of time college, and a job that makes you just another worker. So I am in favor of traditional households, and what I mean by that isn't "mother rears, father brings home $$" I mean both parents, their extended families, are investing as much time into the children, emphasis on self-sustainability. Obviously very few people in the cosmopolitan world are in this position, but that's why we are in this shit situation to begin with.

this isn't even taking into account the eugenics part of birth control and abortion, and push towards promscuity

It is the same ballpark.
