Need to leave this up to the courts. The journalist put his arm around the man with the knife and tries to divert him. That could be considered assault, and the stabbing self-defense.

Agreed. Headline is very sensationalized to mislead the reader into thinking someone was stabbed for 'being a conservative journalist' when he was clearly stabbed for coming up from behind and putting his arm around someone in what can be perceived as a threatening manner. This is very clearly an issue for a court to decide because the stabbing does not appear necessary and how long this guy was stalking them for and in what way is not necessarily fully understood. It could have been a plan to find a reason to stab him or it could have been just a severe overreaction to the uninvited touching - court issue, person who picked this title is fake new peddler.
