If Fauci said to stick your finger up your butt, you'd be the first in line to do it. Gullible and naive.

At least you have a line drawn in the sand. Others draw lines at different points. My line is that I refuse to participate in stupid activities.

if by stupid activities you mean acknowledging the existence of a pandemic i think you need to relearn the definition of stupid

[–]Zahn 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (7 children)

No, what I mean by stupid activities are gullible people who refuse to do their own research or even acknowledge the media's role in driving the public to unfounded hysterical behavior.

Go get the lube.

I did do my research. It's a virus based in the respiratory system, hence the masks. And masks are hardly a new invention. They've been commonly used in densely populated Asian urban centers to stem the spread of common cold and flu for decades.

Weigh your pros and cons. If the media is lying to you, the worst case scenario is that you wore a face mask in public for a few months. If you're wrong, the worst case scenario is that you get your loved ones sick and they die with a ventilator shoved down their throats because you're too unique and fashion conscious to wear a fucking mask for a few months. Is this really the hill you want the old people in your life to die on?

The worst scenario is that we as a people have demonstrated our willingness to blindly submit and allow the ruling class to deceive us into surrendering our rights over a comparatively harmless threat. If it was as bad as they agitate and terrorize people into thinking, they wouldn't have to attempt to force people to take precautions. Its a slippery slope, and nothing more than a psychological game when you look at the bigger picture. The patterns are there.

The elderly and immuno compromised should quarantine at home with an N95 mask. The cracks in the narrative are deepening. You heard it hear first. Explain your objections:

Non N-95 masks don't work:

Non N-95 masks don't work:

Even the Surgeon General told you this in February, Non-95 masks don't work:

....So...why do they want you to wear a mask?

Nah, Americans have already fully demonstrated how easily they're manipulated in a number of other ways, from the way you're all extremely obese due to sugar overconsumption to your absurd military worship and willingness to send your children to die in the name of special interest. You've got nothing to lose in that department, trust me.

Non N-95 masks don't work

... get N95 masks?

Even the Surgeon General

That was back in February, when healthcare workers were facing a mask shortage due to the large number of people buying them. He has since said they do:

You are right about that. My only take would be that the loss of rights is unparalleled, and establishes a dangerous precedent.

Yes, the Surgeon General retracted his previous statement. When an official source of repute is apparently only right 50% of the time, and you have to guess which 50, then it leads to an overall loss of credibility anyway.

The CDC even concluded previously that masks were ineffective:

All these increasingly glaring incongruencies just leads to a great deal of speculation. Since with the astronomical amount of noise associated with this topic in general. It's difficult to delineate what is closer to the truth.

What rights?? The right to not wear a mask?? I try not to pay attention to American politics because of the sheer stupidity, but iirc, they're not arresting people for not wearing masks. What precedent does it set? We've already established that the American population is extremely easy to manipulate. Like I said, that's not news. Most people around the world put their masks on just fine. America isn't special. Just wait out this pandemic and then your children can go back to getting shot at school like they used to.

It's difficult to delineate what is closer to the truth.

Yeah, it's a new virus. Which is why you should weigh your pros and cons.

i did do my research tho. i know that i'm less likely to have any severe side effects from getting the virus, so i wear a mask in public just in case and so i can help prevent spreading it more. that's not hysterical behavior.

but i do agree that the media blew some things out of proportion, such as the severity of the virus on people that aren't elderly or have health issues. some people genuinely think they'll die instantly from contracting the virus, even if they're way less likely to. however, a lot of the hysteria that happened wasn't even necessary and was people overreacting. there were people hoarding hand sanitizer and fighting over toilet paper. neither of those things were necessary to help prevent the virus from spreading further and the media never said to do either of those.
