My own feelings that forms my idealogical foundation is that a better world is possible,

No matter how good you have it that will always be the case. But you have to have some humility and realize that maybe you aren't smarter then everyone else in the world and you don't magically have the perfect system all figured out. It could be better, and it could also be so much worse. Before you go meddling with entire countries, millions of lives you need to PROVE YOUR SYSTEM IS BETTER, not assume it is better because you don't like the current one. And certainly not claim it is better just because it comes from the heart, and you are a good person and don't want it to be bad.

Why is it that the only socialist in politics who actually joined a commune is a guy who was literally kicked out of it for being too lazy? Because none of them believe in the system, they only use the promises of the system to corral the sheep and get votes. Supporting those people is stupid on two levels, not only are the promises known to be bullshit, but the people making them are known to be corrupt pieces of shit.

The foundation to work towards a better system from is capitalism because under capitalism you can have communes, cooperatives and worker owned factories. You can prove them on that scale and THEN advocate for a change in government starting with LOCAL government. Under the other forms of government you LOSE THE FREEDOM TO DO ANYTHING ELSE. You are with the party, or you are dead. It is stupid to force everyone into that hoping it will be better, especially in one of the countries with the highest quality of life FOR EVERYONE INCLUDING THE POOR.

TL;DR If you skipped all that at least understand this: If you have a system where the amount of work or the quality you put in does not effect your wealth everyone will put in the least amount of work. This is the fatal flaw of all redistributive systems. Without social pressures, which can not exist in groups of over 100, there is nothing that can ever overcome the incentive to do as little as possible. This is what causes poverty, not outside meddling in these systems.
