AI mounted machine guns at the gates?

Years ago I had a dream that I saw a normal power pole, in what looked like an American neighborhood or intersection, with a machine gun attached to it toward the top. There was no man at the gun. It appeared to be automatically controlled. At the time I wondered if it was a gun that would be controlled through the internet. But now I see these guns wouldn't even need to be connected to the internet for a man to control remotely. The gun could be controlled by a computer brain (or AI).
