I agree with your thoughts on Little, but the interesting thing here is that there was no threat.

Here's gabs official ban reason:

This discovery triggered an investigation which revealed a threat to commit criminal vandalism. True threats are also not protected by the First Amendment and violate our Community Guidelines.

Accordingly Gab has permanently suspended the account.

Whatever was said about vandalism wasn't cited. A commenter said he said he'd tear down a statue if some campaign goal was met.

Of course. I should never take off my skeptic hat. From now on the aluminum fedora gets polished where it will always remain - firmly on my head. I think she'll like it even less now, but I polish my hat with my cat.

I looked into this some more and I guess it's possible that threatening to tear down a statue is a legit threat. Still seems like a huge judgement call for Gab to make.
