The mass shooting victims are usually innocent, the Chicago murders are gang/black violence. And the black community seems to want less policing and weaker sentencing, so they apparently want things even worse whereas everyone else would probably prefer to not be shot at.

Poverty, desperation, and mental illness, a bad combination. Even gangs are just purely an organized crime attempt, in efforts to deal with poverty and group together to fend of crime from others.

That's roughly 7 people per year. To put that in perspective, around 150 people per year are killed by coconuts, champagne corks kill 20 per year and falling vending machines kill 2 per year. The media love to glorify the dramatic story over the mundane.

Exactly, these 'assault rifle' bans are just posturing for optics, it would have no measurable effect on shooting deaths, but would severely hinder the ability to form an effective militia against a tyrannical government as the founders intended.
