Most likely. Literally trillions have been spent on research with zero effective progress. Instead they still use radiation. Cancer is one of the biggest money makers they have. Every drug has side effects that require other drugs to treat. It seems like they are designed to cause side effects.

Meanwhile there have been dozens of times where researchers have claimed to be on stage 2 trials with shockingly good results only for the tech to dissappear.

Every week there is a new article about how they "cured cancer". And yet people still die of cancer.

Yes, with so much money involved, anyone would be brave to announce they had, or were close to, a cure. The AMA comes down heavy on those brave ones.
