It's just the way Aussies use nouns mate.

First time I went there, I came in through Tassie, flew up to Brissie, then down to Sydney ... which was pre-abbreviated.

That's what I'm questioning. Why do the Australians use nouns in a way that feminizes males?

And why do Australian males accept it? (assuming they do)

It doesn't feminize in Occa English, mate.

A truckie, brickie, bikie (or chippy) are about as blokey as a prop (or hooker).
